Brenda, like to share an additional treasured memory, one I have remembered many times. Please indulge me.

It is late in the spring and Az is getting hot. So we go to Roosevelt Lake, our favorite, early to fish up till noon. We launch at Bob Cat Windy Hill ramp and it’s still dark. We decide to fish the other side of Windy Hill and as we arrive it’s just starting to show some light. We cast for 15 minutes, talking, laughing, the fish are breaking the water and we are getting nothing, not a strike. So Amos changes to another bait and I change to a Vision 110 jerk bait. My first 2 casts I get a big hit and boat 2 nice fish. Amos asks what I am using, his response was a snicker and “oh those lures are just expensive”, which they are. He digs into his tackle box and ties on a jerk bait. In the mean time I get 2 more strikes . As he continues to cast he still is not getting hit and I am having a strike practically on every cast. So now he changes to another bait and announces that he’s got his goto lure on and to look out. The next couple of casts I get hit and boat a nice 5 lber, he asks to see the color of my lure. I show it to him and turn to make another cast. Again I hear him digging through the tackle box so I comment , hope you find the right bait soon because I have another fish on. He’s now laughing loudly and almost uncontrollably and says “it should be because it’s your lure”. I look down around my feet and sure enough he’s got my tackle box and tying on one of my lures. He makes a cast still laughing and as he reels up the slack and starts to twitch it the water just explodes. Amos lands a beautiful 8 lb fish and I get to net it. 

The look on his face, the volume of his laugh was so out of character and to see him digging through my tackle box was a sight that you just had to be there to appreciate. We caught a ton of fish that morning and the fun we had jabbing one another was a trip I will never forget.

Miss you buddy. Roosevelt will always be special.


Brenda....I am so sorry to hear about Amos.   I was going thru old pictures the other day and came across our Lake Powell trip many years ago.  Such a good time with you guys.   One special pic of Amos at the wheel!   What a good looking guy...and so nice, kind, and gentle man.   I know he will be missed.

I am so saddened by your loss. You and Amos have been a big part of my life, Even though our official relationship ended years ago, you always embraced me as family. I am grateful for all the memories we have shared. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, Chad, Jenny, Sydney and Garrett in the days and months to come.

Brenda and family,

Please know that you are all in my prayers during this difficult time. Amos is instilled in the hearts of many--that smile and quiet demeanor.  I will remember him from our many social gatherings through the years. One of those memories stands out--when he taught me (patiently!) how to gut a fish! I think he thought I would be grossed out. :-) I know your memories will bring you peace in the days ahead. You are loved.

I enjoyed working with Amos every day he was on my team. He was one of the most caring, respectful, and focused employees i've been around. The fishing photo in the notice is exactly how I will always remember him.

Dear Brenda, Chad, Jenny, Garrett  and Sydney,  
We are so sorry for your loss.   Amos was such an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  Every time we saw him or talked to him, he raved about Garrett and Sydney and was so proud of them.  Hopefully, the sadness you feel will be overshadowed by the many happy memories you all share.  We had many good laughs at family gatherings and of course at Fajitas!  You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Brenda and family, you are in our thoughts. I’ll always be thankful for the “father figure” Amos was to my daughter-Monica. He taught her how to play basketball and also taught her to recognize every country western singers voice and songs. He helped me coach basketball while Brenda and l held up the fence along the courts. We won all three trophies that year! The girls loved him and respected his knowledge of the game. He loved basketball. We shared many good times together  and will always have fond memories of those days. Amos was a great Kentucky Boy! All our love . Joan and I find our thoughts and hearts are with you at this difficult time.  It was always a pleasure to talk with Amos.  May the many good memories of Amos bring you and your family peace and comfort.

Brenda, his family and friends, it is indescribable the loss felt in Amos’s passing. He was one of those people that always made you feel better about yourself and life. As one of his fishing partners it was obvious the immense pride and enjoyment he had for his family, friends and life. There are so many great memories from our outings and I have relived every one of them these past days. We all truly lost a good man but were enriched in knowing him. I was so fortunate and honored to be able to call him “MY FRIEND”.
