Amy Kristina Lamb, 45, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2021 at the Plaza Healthcare facility in Scottsdale, AZ. She had been a resident patient of the facility for approximately 1 ½ years.
Amy was born on November 10, 1975 to James and Maureen (Stone) Lamb in Biddeford Maine. She, her parents and younger sister Karen lived in Old Orchard Beach, Maine for 12 years. There she enjoyed nearby friends, local schools, the ocean and river beaches, bicycle riding and girls’ softball. Amy was a lefty and proficient with throwing, catching and hitting. With the grandparents and other Lamb & Stone families living in Vermont, there were numerous trips there as well. She did not enjoy the actual travel so much, but the times with family and friends were always a treat.
In 1987 the family moved to Mesa, Arizona for Dad’s work. It was a big climate change, as we drove into the Phoenix valley in August and seeing the 110o F temperature on a bank sign she was quick to be concerned about all of us melting. Amy did well in both middle and High School, graduating with honors from Red Mountain High School. At RMHS she had a number of extracurricular interests, the most significant being marching band. There she learned to play the flute and piccolo. In her later years she grew to really enjoy professional football, especially her favorite team the L.A. Rams. She often provided her own views on team players, positions, records and future prospects.
Following high school Amy had numerous lines of interest including some time at Northern Arizona University and some studies at local community colleges where she obtained certification as a Pharmacy Technician and also took some further studies towards being a Veterinary Technician. She always loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She did well initially with the Vet. Tech. schooling, but eventually discovered that she had a very tough time with the idea of seeing very sick or injured animals and perhaps even needing to assist in euthanizing them. Overall, she was a very sensitive person, and so that part of the veterinary care field was just not something she felt she could do. Such was her personality.
Amy’s middle life was involved with numerous jobs and numerous health issues. She seemed to have a propensity towards pulmonary embolisms, having several very severe battles to overcome those. Amy was gradually overtaken by Myotonic Dystrophy, the genetic disease which took both her mother, Maureen, in 2005 and her aunt Donna in 2008, both at young ages. Amy withstood the progressive effects of the disease though eventually requiring constant critical nursing care by the great folks at the Plaza Healthcare facility.
Amy was preceded in death by: Mother, Maureen (Stone) Lamb, Infant brother Donald James Lamb, maternal Aunt, Donna (Stone) Prescott and Grandparents J. Porter and Shirley Lamb, and Donald and Priscilla (Hinkley) Stone, all from Rutland, Vermont and by Cousin, Chris LaFond.
Survivors include: Father, James Lamb, Sister, Karen (Lamb) Creel, Nephews James and Ethan Creel; Step-Mother, Monika Rutkowski-Lamb and Step Sisters, Helen Rutkowski, Amelia (Rutkowski) Blum, Sophia Rutkowski, Claire Rutkowski and Step-Nephew Henik Rutkowski; Aunts, Sherrie McKirryher and Paula DeAlmedia and Cousins Robbie and Jason Silva.
Family services held on April 12, 2021 at the Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, Mesa, AZ. Amy’s remains are resting peacefully, next to her Mother Maureen, while they enjoy being together again in heaven.
