

Anthony Polito, beloved Husband and father of four, died November 5, 2012 at the age of 79. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio to Italian immigrant parents, Frank Polito and Grace Decaro. He was raised in Cleveland, and met his wife, Barbara Ann Brandon of Lorraine, Ohio, at a Christmas Party in Avon Lake. Because neither of their parents approved of them, they eloped to Angola, Indiana where they were married on his 21st Birthday, July 28, 1954. They traveled throughout the country with their four children, from Las Vegas, Alaska, California and eventually making Arizona their home of 52 years.
Tony, had many talents which included singing, dancing, playing harmonica, clarinet, drawing and his expert knowledge and love of History. Though it was his love for Science that led him to a life long career of Metallurgy as a Research Engineer.
He was an early contributor to the development of advanced metallization systems for integrated circuit semiconductor manufacturing at Motorola Semiconductors.
His work in metal evaporation and sputtering technologies allowed Motorola to enter the complex Bi-Polar Integrated Circuit fabrication technologies such as multi-layer metal fabrication during the 1960’s. During the 1970’s his work was basic to the development of advanced MOS technologies for Memory and Microprocessor products produced at Motorola Semiconductors during those years.
A technical visionary, Tony was a renowned metallurgist recipient of the Motorola patent of excellence award and key to the flat panel display technology with the formation of pixels to emit light. A great family man and people person. Loved by all who knew him. He made you laugh, would burst out in a song at any given time and was proud to be an American Veteran. He Truly loved his wife, His family, His friends and His Country.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann Polito, his three sons, Anthony Michael Polito, Steven Kelly Polito, Frank Polito and his daughter, Ann Marie Polito.
Church Services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Living Word Bible Church at 3520 E. Brown Rd. Mesa, Az. 85213. A reception will follow.
