Betty Mae Johnson, age 85, of Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. She was born on November 1, 1940 in Custer Township, Lyon County, Minnesota to parents Glen and Luella VanWinkle. Betty graduated from Balaton High School.
Betty was married to Royal Dean Johnson on July 12, 1958 in Balaton, Minnesota. After exploring various different types of jobs, Betty would find her career in Massage Therapy. She would enjoy her time in this career for 10 years. Betty had a passion for dancing, golf, music, reading, sketch art, shopping, and she loved to tell a good joke.
Betty is survived by her children; Jerry Johnson, Kimberly (Bryan) Ferguson, and Russell (Angie) Johnson, grandchildren; Amber(Lucas), Kristin (Jesse), Thomas, Trisha (Seth), Jared (Jayme), and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by he loving husband; Royal, her parents; Glen and Luella VanWinkle, and siblings; Arnold, Dean, Irma, and Jane.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mariposa Gardens, 6747 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa, AZ 85206, on May 27, 2026, at 11:00am. Betty will be laid to rest with Royal privately at a later date at Mariposa Gardens.
