Catherine Mary Jennings

Catherine was born on September 21, 1928 in the teeming metropolis of Sherburne, New York, died Tuesday the 2nd of April 2013 at 84. Her extended family all lived in the surrounding towns in upstate New York. Through her neighbors she met and married her first husband Norman Spicer in 1949. The Spicer family was on the move from the start, living in San Diego California, Topeka Kansas, Bellevue Washington, Palos Verdes California, they were blessed with 3 sons, Stephen (Finela) of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Gregory (Gail) and Gary (Teresa) both of Portage, Michigan. Cathy was also survived by her brother Leonard (Lynn) McConnell and six grandchildren; Christina (Simon) Willman, Heather Kay (Andrew) McMurray, Lena, Carolyn, Kelly and Eddie.

Mom was a vivacious out-going person who loved life and became close friends with many of the people she met. A testimony to her care for others was evident each Christmas as she would receive cards ranging from all over the US and various foreign countries, including friends dating back to her elementary school years. She was divorced in 1978 and in 1980 she met and married her second husband Eric Jennings in Palos Verdes California. They moved to Sun Lakes in 1985, enjoying 25 more years of wonderful marriage until his passing in 2010. During that time they travelled to all 50 states in the US and numerous countries abroad. Mom was the life of the party and gave to all her energy through such hobbies as singing and dancing; she made people laugh in the years she was volunteering her time to be a clown, she had been very active with her knitting group, she was always willing to show people around to make them feel welcome at the Renaissance where she and Eric lived for 10 years.

She will be cremated and the family will plan a celebration of her life, Friday, April 5th, 2013 at 2:00pm at Solterra, 350 S. Alma School Rd., Chandler, AZ 85225, Solterra was her home for 2 years.
