Before I was born my parents needed a name for a baby girl. They knew Margery and Bob Athoe and my Dad totally loved cute little two and a half year old Cheryl. So when I was born I was named Cheryl. I know that many people shared a special bond with Cheryl but I had the distinction of being introduced as "my namesake" when we met other people when we were together. I will always treasure the concept that I was named in honour of this beautiful creature that honoured the world with her light and life for (almost) 58 years. Rest in peace my friend and hug your parents for me.

Through the many years that I have known Cheryl she has always been so kind, caring, loving, full of life and lots of fun to be around. Cheryl  will always be remembered  for the endless love and eternal hope she gave to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.  I consider myself blessed to have experienced her sense of humour, commitment and dedication to her family, friends and all  the important values she held close to her heart.  Many fond memories of working with Cheryl at Community Living Haliburton (formerly known as Haliburton County Community Living Association.). Cheryl was instrumental in mentoring myself as a Board of Director member for several years.  Those years were some of the best years of my life!  Steve and Shawna and extended family my heart goes out to all of you.  Shawna keep in mind that you have some of the absolute best 'genes' - you are an awesome Mom to Riley just as Cheryl was an awesome loving mother to you!

I will remember Cheryl as the one who put together the kick ball tournament. She made it behavioral health's  most fun and beneficial event in the valley. I am acquainted with many of you, because of her. I will remember her smile and enthusiasm.

Cheryl exemplified the passion, purpose and devotion to ensuring that members who attended Marc Behavioral Health Services would always be served with dignity and respect.  Service above self was a credo she lived every day.  It is these sentiments that will preserve her legacy at Marc forever.

To an amazing and wonderful lady with who I had the pleasure of working with. You inspired me and helped me see my flaws even when I couldn't. You were that hand up instead of the hand out. Thank you Cheryl for always being there when I needed someone the most.

Cheryl and I used to do outreach on the weekends at various behavioral health fairs. She was so friendly, outgoing and caring to those in need! She was also a wonderful role model for behavioral health and Marc employees! She will be dearly missed.
