David Jon Davis

David was born in Vinton, Iowa. His parents were Glenn F and Martha J (Garwood) Davis. Dave graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and joined the the U. S. Navy in March of 1964 serving on the U.S.S. William H. Stanley. Following his tour of service, in 1968 he met and married Vianna L. Gilbert August 16, 1969. Dave sold real estate in Cedar Rapids then attended Kirkwood Community College and completed a degree in Management Development in 1974. In 1977 he graduated from Mount Mercy College with a Bachelor's degree in Business with a minor in Economics. The family moved to Anamosa, Iowa where he worked in the Dept. of Corrections for two and a half years. The family moved in early 1986 to Mesa, Arizona where Dave worked again in the Dept. Of Corrections before entering the Phoenix police department until his retirement in 2011.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents Glenn F. Davis 4/14/2004 and Martha J. (Garwood) Davis 3/31/2006.

He is survived by his wife Vianna L. (Gilbert) Davis; his daughter Channon L. (Davis) Shelley and Tony, Little Rock, AK; his son Brian Davis, Flagstaff, AZ; his granddaughter Andrea (Davis) Briner, Phoenix, AZ; his grandson Blake Davis, Madison, AL; his great-grandson John Harer; and his sister Christine (Davis) Sharp (Dennis).

A Celebration of Life for David will be held at Mesa Baptist Church, 2425 S Alma School Rd, Mesa AZ 85210 (480-897-2036), email [email protected]).
