Don Wayne Linton, age 55, is the son of Donald Linton and Linda Dixon Shull & Stepson to John and Janice Shull. He was born in Fredrick, Maryland on December 29, 1966 & called to Heaven on April 6, 2022, at his home in Mesa, Arizona.
His legacy is proudly survived by his three daughters: Heather Drake, Jessica Childs, and Katelyn Hewitt and his grandchildren: Cheyenne, Dean, Luke, Jack, & Kensley.
Don was, and always will be, remembered as a local legend as his neighbors, coworkers and community all referred to him as “The Don”. Known for being a quiet & hardworking man, his demeanor was quickly overshadowed by his heartwarming chuckle and the way he wore his heart on his sleeve. He was the type of man who would’ve given the shirt off his back to help a stranger. Which is why most would argue he was always seen shirtless in his garage.
He would always offer you a cold Bud Light and a seat at the edge of his garage under the misters, where you could tell right as you walked up that he was an avid collector. He never failed to stop to pick something up off the side of the road as he recited, “One mans’ trash is another mans’ treasure.” But it was his Bud Light Christmas tree that he proudly displayed in his front yard each year that truly drove this point home.
Don was a highly respected automotive mechanic, HVAC tradesman, CDL truck driver and fuel manager in the oil industry. Beyond his expertise, he carried a strong reputation for fixing things. You could always find him tinkering around on his prized possessions. Whether it was a rebuilt engine, his Harley Davidson, the lifted Silverado, Chevy C-10, or his Nova, he never failed to return a friendly wave at those passing by his open garage as he revved the accelerator.
If there is a saying he would’ve wanted his friends & family to remember him by, it would be, “Don’t worry about me. I’m alright. I’m just gonna sit here a little while and finish my beer.”
Don’s legacy will be remembered by his community of friends & family during a Celebration of Life ceremony this fall. Please contact his daughters for more information.
