Edgar built a life defined by hard work, dedication to his family, and service to his community. He spent his career as a Union carpenter and latherer and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union for 61 years, first in Massachusetts and later in Arizona, where he served as a Steward for the Arizona Carpenters Local 1912. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he took great pride in the trade he devoted his life to.
Edgar found extraordinary joy in giving back to his community. He served for many years with Old Scottsdale Youth Baseball as both an umpire and a board member. He was highly recognized for his dedication to the organization and received many honors and awards for his contributions, including having a ball field at the Pima Ballfields dedicated in his name. His commitment helped provide opportunities and memorable experiences for countless young athletes and their families.
Edgar also enjoyed many of the simple pleasures of Arizona life. He was a passionate Arizona Diamondbacks fan and loved spending time watching baseball. He also enjoyed attending rodeos, playing shuffleboard, and relaxing at concerts in the park. Those who knew Edgar will remember his kindness, his steady presence, and the pride he took in supporting his family and community.
Edgar was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Scott Robichaud (Mary), and his daughter, Laurene Shindledecker (Jeremy). He deeply loved his grandchildren—Eden (24), Kyle (21), and Brookelynn (18)—and cherished the time he spent with them as they grew.
He is also survived by his brothers, Martin Robichaud (Kathy), Danny Robichaud (Patti), and Phil Robichaud (Anna). He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar J. Robichaud Sr., his mother, Nella M. Robichaud (Scannell), and his sister, Bernadette Ryan. Edgar was also a loving uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend to many, and he cherished the relationships he built throughout his life.
Edgar’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 17th at 3:30 p.m. at the Fountains East RV Park Community Room, located at 303 Recker Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Edgar’s life.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Edgar’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org, or to a charity of your choice.
