Elizabeth Meile Bolander, age 95, died on Saturday, November 23, 2019, in Glendale, Arizona. Elizabeth was born in our Nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. to Carrie and George Meile. Her first job was working at the Pentagon, during WWII, in Alexandria, Virginia. While attending a U.S.O. dance, Elizabeth met her future husband, Richard Bolander, who was stationed in Washington, D.C. with the Army. Following the end of WWII, Elizabeth and Richard moved to Toledo, Ohio, where they began their life together. They raised two children, Bill and Bonnie.
During the 1950’s, Elizabeth worked as an administrator at the Army depot. In the in1960’s, Elizabeth worked at St. Charles Hospital. For many years, Elizabeth worked at Hunt-Wesson, in Human Resources and retired from there in 1980.
Over the years, Elizabeth was a Girl Scout leader and in the later years, volunteered at the Rosson House and United Blood Services. But she was at her best when she filled her role as Mother and Grandmother.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, George and Carrie Meile; brother William Meile and Husband Richard Bolander. She is survived by her son William (Judy) of The Villages, FL; daughter Bonnie Bohlen (Dean) of Scottsdale, AZ; as well as five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth is dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation in honor and memory of Elizabeth will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10:00 am, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am, at the Eggleston, Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road, Oregon, OH 43616.
