He is survived by his daughter Megan, his brother Barry and his family, his cousins Richard, Lori, Deena and Jeffrey, and his grandson Connor.
Born in Detroit late in 1952, Fred attended Oak Park High School, and decided early on to pursue a career in sales. He enjoyed bowling, golf, poker, action movies, and the music of the Rat Pack. True to form, he was a man of few words and kept his cards close to his chest. Nevertheless, he freely helped his daughter (and later his grandson) with their schoolwork so that they would have a solid education to work from.
While Fred’s marriage to Cathy (née Schuck) was at times rocky and ended in divorce several years ago, they remained cordial with each other, and neither remarried. While Cathy underwent cancer treatment, Fred took over caring for her aging wire terrier Miss Muffy, and after Cathy’s passing in 2022, he made caring for the old girl his responsibility.
Fred requested that no funeral or memorial be held for him. In lieu of flowers, his family requests a charitable donation (dealer’s choice) or a random act of kindness done in his honor. And let the chips fall where they may.
