Gisella Elise Pomonis passed away peacefully in her home on May 30th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years old.
Gisella was born on September 1st, 1974, in Santa Monica, California. A fiercely devoted mother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend, she touched countless lives with her generosity, fire, and infectious spirit.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mackenzi Stein; her mother, Marci Myers; her sister, Audri Deboef; her brothers, Tyler and Ryan Myers; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Gisella was a passionate educator who considered every student “one of her kids.” She had a contagious laugh, a fiery spirit, and a heart that gave endlessly. Whether planning student council dances, rescuing animals, or going on spontaneous road trips with her daughter, Gisella lived with passion and purpose. Her love for her students, her deep compassion for animals, and her spunky sense of humor stayed with her until the very end.
As a single mom she always went above and beyond to make her daughter feel loved and appreciated, taking trips, creating memories, and living by their special saying: “Always just you and me.”
She never gave up hope. She defied the odds. And she fought with everything she had—until the very end.
