Harold August Loof was born on June 13, 1920 in Corona, SD to William and Minnie (Seabrands) Loof. In his youth, he accepted the Lord as his Savior and became a member of the Corona Baptist Church, and lived a life that displayed his testimony to his family and friends. He graduated from Corona High School in 1939. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II for four years, three of those years being stationed in New Caledonia.
He married Lois Marie Trapp on September 26, 1947 and then began farming. He farmed in Roberts County and in August of 1964, he became the Postmaster in the Corona Post Office. He retired from the postal service in December, 1984.
After retirement Harold and Lois spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. They became full time residents in 2010. During these retirement years, Harold and Lois enjoyed traveling to such places as Germany, England, Hawaii, and Alaska, as well as taking many cruises with family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife Lois, of 71 years, daughter Jean (Rick) Myers, Michigan, son, Tom (Marilyn), Arizona , and daughter Mary (Steve) Sommer, Indiana. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Verlyn Loof and Kathy Trapp, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, twin brother Herman and sisters, Minnie Loof, Lola Burkholder, Mabel Giesen, Marie DeBoer and one sister at birth.
Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00am at Valley Baptist Church in Milbank, SD. His Interment will follow the service at Milbank Cemetery with a reception to follow the Interment.
