Helen M Schmidt

Helen M. (nee Beenken) Schmidt. passed away May 7, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona. Born June 28, 1928 in Lincoln Township, Winnebago County, Iowa to Hans and Anna (nee Bruns) Beenken. She grew up in Titonka, Iowa and graduated from Titonka High School. After graduation Helen was married to her soulmate, Georgie Schmidt Jr. on August 20, 1946 in Titonka, Iowa. Helen was a spiritual person and had strong faith in God. She was involved in the Women’s Bible study at her church. She was an avid card player and she loved board and other games. She was very competitive and did not like to lose. She shared her love of cards and board games with her grandchildren, and also found relaxation in sewing and quilting. Being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Helen’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter Shiela Schmidt, son Scott Schmidt, daughter-in-law Debbie Schmidt, granddaughter Greer Evans, grandson Christopher Schmidt, brothers Orville, Leroy, Ken, Art, Clarence and Duane Beenken and her sister Harriett Thompson. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Anna Beenken, brother Irvin Beenken, and on October 5, 2012, Helen lost the love of her life Georgie Schmidt Jr. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480) 830-4422.
