Isabelle DeBoer

and Anita, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson, one great grandson, one great great grandson.

Isabelle was born in Luverne, MN, on Sept. 13, 1915 to wonderful parents, William and Ida Goodale. She

enjoyed her small town upbringing and was the assistant editor for her High School newspaper in her senior year. She had one year of teacher training and taught for seven years in rural schools. In 1935 she married Herman De Boer. The two of them, with Ted and Florence Pool, built and operated Leota Café’ for fifteen Years. Isabelle then returned to teaching and completed college courses for her degree in Bachelor of Science in 1963. She finished her teaching career as an elementary school principal of Edgerton Public Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with her family camping and traveling. She was involved in the March of Dimes, the county library and the director of many community plays and Edgerton High School plays. She also organized a study club in Leota and was a 4-H leader.

Isabelle and Herman retired in 1973 from Leota grocery store, and spent their winters in Arizona. After

Herman’s passing in 1978, Isabelle became a full time resident in Arizona, she became an accomplished

porcelain artist, volunteered at urgent care for many years, was active in women’s ministries and the first

female Elder in Desert Haven Community Church in Tempe, AZ. In her present membership in Church of

the Master in Mesa, AZ, Isabelle organized a group called “Prayerents” where members were matched to

children of the church for special prayers. Isabelle’s drive and spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew

her.

A memorial service for Isabelle will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 10 am at Church of the Master, 6659 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ 85205 in the Sanctuary with refreshments to follow.
