James Patrick Byrne passed away on December 29, 2024 in Sun Lakes, Arizona. He was born on April 8, 1941 to James and Margaret Byrne. James was raised in Waterbury, CT where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School. He proudly served as a Sargent in the United States Army. He earned a degree at Waterbury State Technical College and Quinnipiac University. He worked many years at and retired from the Southern New England Telephone (SNET) Company. After retiring from SNET he completed his career as an internal auditor at CSX Sealand.

James was married to his high school sweetheart, Corliss Byrne, for 62 years. Together they lived in Connecticut and New Jersey and ultimately settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. They enjoyed travelling and cruising and saw much of the world together. James enjoyed scuba diving, irish music, college and NFL football, watching the deer in his yard and reminiscing about the travel adventures he experienced with Corliss.

James is survived by his daughter, Robyn Hayes, and her husband, Patrick J Hayes Jr, of Sun Lakes. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Pamela Cilfone, and her children; his son-in-law, Ron Descoteaux; and his brother, Frances. He also leaves cousins, nieces, nephews and several friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Corliss Byrne; his daughter, Leslie Descoteaux; his son, Donald; his grandson, James Parizo; his parents, James and Margaret; his brother, Thomas; and his sister, Peggy.
