James “Glenn” Mays, 87, of Mesa, AZ passed away May 3, 2024. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on July 2, 1936. Glenn graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and married Peggy Mays (Shehorn) on June 1, 1957. Glenn served 3 years in the Army National Guard and worked in Construction and Trucking for Amoco before retiring in 1996 and moved to Mesa. His loving wife, Peggy passed away in 2007, after 50 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia Mays and his sister, Bonnie Stevens. Glenn is survived by his sons Jim (Susan) Mays, Jeff (Nancy) Mays, daughter Tamra Mays, his brothers Don (Sally) Mays and Richard (Lena) Mays; four granddaughters, two great grandchildren; two step granddaughters, and four step great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 1st at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 6747 E. Broadway Rd. in Mesa at 10:00 am with lunch to follow at the home of Jim and Susan Mays in Gilbert.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Valley and Mariposa Gardens for their constant, attentive treatment and care of Glenn during his final days.
