On Tuesday night, July 26th, our beloved Father, James McCabe (affectionately known as "Captain Jim") ascended with the angels and flew home to the Lord. He went ever so peacefully in his sleep without any agitation or pain...AND at his request, in the comforts of his home that they had lived in for 42 years!
For the past 3 months, he had been under the care of the amazing Hospice nurses and my outstanding "saintly" Mother who was by his side and slept on the couch every night caring for him! (If one didn't believe in true love prior to this, I can guarantee you we just witnessed it first hand during those 3months)
We spoiled him and gave him whatever he wanted which often times included: Apple pie for breakfast, a chocolate milkshake for dinner, and glasses of beer and Irish whiskey we shared at 4 in the morning! (I think we will remember those sweet moments the most) 😊 We can gratefully go forth knowing not a single moment was held back, and that we were able to tell Captain Jim how thankful we were to call him Dad ❤
..and now we honor this beautiful man, this WWII veteran, this pilot, this Marine, this fighter for peace! This lover of nature, this hiker, sailor and fisherman! This sports fanatic, Star Wars fan, this jokester and badass! ;) This Father, husband, and Uncle, this Great Grand Father and friend...AND naturally, this Man of God
Thank you all for your recent prayers, love, and support ....and thank you to all the friends, family, grandkids and great grandkids that came to see him during his last months.
We love you with all of our hearts, Dad! We will always go forward with your zest for life and the adventurous spirit you instilled in our veins! And while you continue to fly all around the Universe now, we'd like to share a befitting sentence that seems to best describe your time here on Earth:
⭐ "This Life.....NAILED IT!!!" ⭐
James McCabe's loving family members are his wife, Magdalena McCabe, his son, Jim McCabe, his son, Michael McCabe, his daughter, Colleen McCabe, his daughter, Mila McCabe, his niece, Christine Terrell, his 6 grandchildren, and his 11 great grandchildren.
