Born in Elkhart, Indiana, on July 10, 1944 to Robert J. Karasch and Catherine E. Mills, she enjoyed a typical childhood until age ten, when she was stricken with polio. As a polio survivor, she had to endure many surgeries in order to walk again. In spite of her health issues, she graduated from Rosary College in Illinois before moving to Madison, Wisconsin, Rio de Janeiro, and Tucson, Arizona, where she met her husband John D. Hall. In the 1970s they moved to Tempe, and she began working for the city of Scottsdale, where she mastered early computer science systems, as one of the few women who made a career in that field. At the same time, she and her husband raised two children, Michael D. Hall and Julie Ann Hall.
In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards, working on puzzles, reading books on her kindle, caring for her cats, and visiting with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband and children and two grandchildren Weston and Sierra Cox, as well as her sister Mary C. Karasch and brothers Robert J. Karasch, Jr. and Richard A. Karasch. We will all miss her quiet strength and positive spirit in the midst of debilitating illnesses. A celebration of her life will take place at the Lakeshore Mortuary.
