John E. Chambers passed to a better place on April 19th, 2011. He lived to be 92 years, 11 months, 12 days - almost 93 years. He was born on April 8, 1918 in Thoeny Valley, Montana. He attended grade school in Thoeny. His family then moved to Coeur dAlene, Idaho. He graduated from Coeur dAlene High School in 1936. After graduation he moved to San Diego, CA. He was married and later was blessed with two children. He joined the United Sates Navy in June of 1937 and served nine (9) years. He reenlisted June of 1947 for another five years and received an Honorable Discharge May 5th 1952 by direction of the Commandant Thirteenth Naval District. His rating at Discharge was Metalsmith G First Class. He worked in the Sheet Metal Industry in California for several years. They moved to Athol, Idaho for ten years, then moved to Arizona. He was an Arizonian for over 35 years.
John was a long time member of the folliwing organizations: El Camino Research Lodge in Sunnyvale, CA; Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #292, San Jose, CA; Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 15003, Arizona; Quiet Birdmen (QB) Phoenix Hangar AZ; (QB was founded in 1921 by World War 1 fliers. The group includes some of aviation's most distinguished pilots from all over the world and membership is quite exclusive by invitation ONLY.); Arizona Antique Aircraft Association (AAAA) in Casa Grande, AZ. He enjoyed his family and many firends, and listening to music of the Big Band Era. Survivors include his wife Charlene Blohm-Chambers, one granddaughter Tiffany Alanzi of Cheyenne, WY, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Olga Chambers, one son Timothy, one daughter Dawn, one brother Kenneth, and two sisters names are unknown.
