

Jose Ricardo Alarcon, age 77, of Safford AZ, and passed away in Orcutt, California, in his daughter Victoria F. Alarcon's home. Jose passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, after courageously battling cancer.
Also known affectionately by many names—Jose, Richard, JR, Dickey, Dad, Grandpa, Tata, Uncle Dickey, and El Güero—he was deeply loved by all who knew him.
Born on January 23, 1948, in Fabens, Texas, but grew up in San Elizario, Texas. Jose was the beloved son of the late Jose Gustavo Alarcon and Victoria Carbajal Alarcon. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring.
Jose’s life was rich in love and family. Jose is survived by his four children: his daughter, Victoria F. Alarcon; his sons, Richard J. Alarcon, Samuel French, and Matthew Alarcon.
He is also survived by his siblings, Eduardo (Eddie) Alarcon, Carlos (Charlie) Alarcon, Carol Rivera, Patricia Avila, and Elinora (Nora) Aguilar. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel (Danny) Alarcon. Jose was a Grandfather to many grandchildren & great-grandchildren, and was deeply loved by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose had a deep passion for training and caring for racehorses—a pursuit that brought him immense joy. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering commitment to helping those in need, and his vibrant love for life. His strength, service, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
