Josie G. Castro

Josie Castro 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4th, 2012. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Josie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul M. Castro, also of Ajo. She was survived by her 6 sons, and 6 daughter-in-laws, Ruben (Benny) and Bertha, Willie and Helen, Joe and Ercilia, Richard (Eddie) and Socorro, John Paul and Andrea, and Ernie and Isabel, by her 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great grandchildren, and by her two sisters, Lupe Escalante, of Phoenix and Mary Villa of Wittier, California. All her great and great-great grandchildren lovingly called her Big Grandma, although she only stood 4 feet something; she had a huge heart. She knew no strangers, and everyone that had the opportunity to get to know her, loved her back. Especially children; she loved kids. She worked a few years taking care of the kids during recess at the grade school in Ajo, and they all loved her as well. We will miss her dearly, but know that she is resting peacefully now among God's angels. Memorial Service will be held at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel at 6747 E. Broadway Rd in Mesa, Arizona on April 19th at 3:00 pm. Burial services will be held at the Ajo cemetery on April 20th at 2:00pm. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens (480) 830-4422.
