Karen Marie Cummings

Karen Marie Cummings was born August 13th 1959 in Rockford, IL. On October 3rd 2012 Karen was reunited with her father, Earl Jenewein, and oldest sister, Debbie Jenewein - Tipler, in the loving arms of our Lord in Heaven.

Karen is survived by her husband, Todd Cummings, mother, Patricia (Pat) Tierman (husband Paul), sisters, Theresa Carlson (husband David) and Laura Todd all of Illinois. She is also survived by her mother in law, Bettylou Edwards, brother in law, Tim Cummings, both of Arizona, and brother in law, Taylor Cummings (wife Madeleine) of Illinois. Karen also has an extensive family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in the Illinois, Wisconsin and Arizona areas.

Karen and Todd met while attending Mundelein High School in 1978. Their relationship quickly blossomed into love and they were married on January 8th 1981 in Waukegan, IL. Karen had an amazing love for people and that was demonstrated when her older sister, Debbie, suffered from kidney failure in 1978. Karen did not hesitate to donate one of her kidneys to her sister. She continued to show her passion of caring for people as a nurse’s aide at Winchester House nursing home in Libertyville, IL.

In 1984 Todd and Karen decided to leave Illinois for warmer weather and relocated to Arizona. Except for a short return to Illinois they lived in Arizona for 28 years. Todd and Karen celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary this past January. Karen did not work much outside of their home the past few years. Instead, she enjoyed baking, cooking, decorating for holidays and being a homemaker. She kept in touch with her family in Illinois with phone calls almost on a daily basis.

Karen had a genuine love for her family and friends. She also had a deep devotion to her faith and read her bible nightly. It is with that knowledge that we may find some comfort in knowing that she has been received in heaven by our lord and savior Jesus Christ. She will be missed by all of us that had the honor and pleasure of her presence on this earth.

Memorial Service will be celebrated on October 10, 2012, 10:00 am, First Presbyterian Church, 161 North Mesa, Drive, Mesa, Arizona 85201

In Illinois a Memorial service will be celebrated on October 13, 2012, 12:00 Noon, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Avenue, Gurnee, Illinois.
