Laura Griffin was born on August 14, 1925 at Woodland General Hospital and was raised in Woodland, CA.

She taught sixth grade and retired from Contra Costa Adult Education in Pleasant Hill, CA. She obtained her Master Gardener Certification from University of California at Berkeley.
She is fondly remembered as being young at heart even into her ninety’s as she and her contemporaries refused to allow the word “old” to be a part of their vocabulary. She loved being a mother” and grandmother. Her greatest joy was to see both her children and grandchildren grow up with children of their own. She was proud of each one, including the two serving in their church’s leadership. She told us to “fly high little bird” to become our best selves. Both Grandma and Grandpa took great joy in taking their grandchildren on a special trip and going to their sports competitions, dance or choral performances. Laura enjoyed spending time with her family.
Laura is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as secretary, treasurer and as a member of the drill team in Sacramento. In Walnut Creek, she served faithfully in many positions with the Walnut Creek Garden Club including president. She also dedicated many years to serving on the board of Heather Farm Garden Center as secretary, Education Director, Vice President and President. During her tenure as president, she had the outdoor learning pavilion built involving many volunteers in the project. She will be sadly missed by her children Robert and Kathleen, her grandchildren; Diane, Kirk, Ken, Tony, David, Sharla, Aaron and Stephen, and her great-grandchildren : Liam, Lia, Madison, Avery, Ella, Hannah, Brody, Taylor, Aubrey, Dominik, Gabriel, Andrea, Theo and Quinley. Also, her sister Anna.
