Lucy Chico passed away in Mesa, AZ on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 at the age of 94. Lucy’s youngest daughter, Annelise Reynolds, along with Annelise’s two children, Jason Antonino and Jaimie Day, and MaryAnn Antonino were all with Lucy as her life’s journey came to an end.
Lucy was born on January 14th, 1918 in New York to her parents Oreste and Anna Grassi. Her life was filled with many blessings mixed with many losses. She lost siblings at young ages to illness, her husband in 1990, and her youngest son, Robert, who passed away in 1985 at only 33 years old. She is survived by so many loved ones still: her brother Pete, sister Adele, sons James and John, daughters Cathy and Annelise, grandchildren Tricia, Carey, Alexa, Jason, Jaimie, Matthew, and LaurieBeth, and her 11 great-grandchildren Ashley, Jamie, Kiley, Caden, Jacqueline, Bristol, Wesley, Victoria, Taylor, Brandon, and Corey.
Lucy married Salvatore Chico on April 17th, 1938 in New York. They raised their five children there. Lucy lived in New York until the early 1990s, when she moved to Arizona. She traveled all over the country to see family even well into her 80s and often by herself. She was a very strong, independent woman. She chose to live her life doing what she wanted and what made her happy. She had many friends, and those who had the pleasure of knowing her will miss her dearly.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 1st 2012 at 1pm at Mariposa Gardens: 6747 E. Broadway Rd. Mesa, AZ 85206.
