Luis Ernesto Mendoza was born in Clifton, Arizona on February 14th, 1961. He found fulfillment in nature and made numerous treks, including his most prized journeys Havasupai Falls and the Rim-To-Rim-To-Rim hikes in The Grand Canyon. Luis shared his love of adventure and the outdoors with his wife of 30 years Mary Ann “Annie”, his two daughters Marcella and Katarina, and his friends. He instilled his cherished mantra, “Just Livin”, in all who knew him, challenging us to live for today, to act boldly, and to simply seek goodness in our lives. Life was good; he was good. He will always be remembered as the man who made us laugh, the man who showed us the beauty of the world, and the man who has forever taught us that “happiness is only real when shared” (John Krakauer). Luis is survived by his loving wife and daughters and his two sisters Cecilia Mendoza-Strayer and Olivia Lara. An Open-house celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, August 17th, 6-8pm at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Dr., Mesa, AZ. All are welcome to attend and to contribute a story and/or a picture in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, Mesa, AZ.
