Martha Jean Ayers, 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 11, 2018 with family by her side in Gilbert, Arizona. Martha was an amazing woman loved by many who called her daughter, mother, Nannie, sister, and friend.
Martha was born on October 15, 1941 in Roanoke Virginia to Lester Clay and Mary Thelma McGhee. She spent most of her childhood in Roanoke and Salem Virginia growing up with her parents and favorite sister Jo Anne Neal. After high school she attended Radford University for 2 years. She married Yancey Wyatt Ayers.
They had their first son and moved to Germany and lived there for 2 years. Shortly after they moved back and settled in Virginia and then moved to Maryland to raise their 5 children. Martha’s true love was her kids and grandkids. Martha always put her kids needs before her own.
Martha was the beloved wife of Yancey Wyatt Ayers III and mother of Yancey Clay Ayers, Elizabeth Ayers Cluff, Justin Wyatt Ayers, John Matthew Ayers and Leslie Ann Miller. Martha is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
Although we will miss her dearly, we can find peace in the knowledge that life does not end with death and that families can be together forever.
