

Gill Baker, 86 of Mesa, Arizona entered into eternal life on may 14th 2016. Born in Detroit, Michigan, December 29th 1929. he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Northern Arizona University and began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons until his retirement in May of 1994 after 20 years of service. After retirement Gill and Irene traveled to all 50 states and made 2 trips to the Holy Land, Rome , France, and the Caribbean Islands. Gill's passion for Christ led him to serve the Lord in all the churches of which they were members. He was also very patriotic and proud to display the American Flag at his home. He was a Merchant Marine and then joined the U.S. marine Corps for 2 years. He was a Boy Scout Master for 3 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #50 in El Reno, Oklahoma. He was also a member of the Shriners India Temple as a Provost guard. Gill loved God, country and his family and had a zest for life.
Gill's parents were Marvin and Zuella baker of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His sister Dolores Izzo fo Prescott, Michigan. Gill met the love of his life, Irene at the age of 5. They grew up on the same street in Detroit, Michigan and were married after his return from serving in the Marines, June 19th 1948. They were joined together for 67 years. Gill is survived by his wife Irene and 2 sons; Daniel G. Baker and wife Cathy of Laveen, Arizona; Buck Baker and wife Judy of Gilbert, Arizona; and daughter, Bonnie Garber and husband Kevin of Garber, McMinnville, Oregon. Gill also has 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
