Interment will follow at East Resthaven Cemetery, 4310 E Southern Ave,, Phoenix, AZ 85042, on March 2, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm.

I don’t wear the hat much anymore—

Times changed.

Cities grew taller than any mesa

I ever rode across.

But a man’s word?

That ought to stand

Taller than steel.

They say the West is gone.

Maybe the fences are tighter,

The horses fewer,

The dust paved over with neon and noise.

But courage doesn’t go out of style.

Neither does standing your ground

When the ground’s worth standing on.

A handshake still matters.

Truth still matters.

Looking a man in the eye

Still tells you what you need to know.

I wasn’t perfect—

Never claimed to be.

But I believed a fellow ought to try

To leave things better than he found ’em.

So if you’re waiting on a hero,

Don’t look for boots and spurs.

Look for the one who stays

When leaving would be easier.

The last ride isn’t over.

It’s just yours now
