He was born in Menominee Michigan to Joseph and Edna (Nowack) Kiefer. Dick graduated from Marinette Catholic Central High School in 1960. He attended St. Norberts College in De Pere Wisconsin where he received a degree in Business Administration. He had a talent for numbers and enjoyed working with finances. After many years of management he finally settled into retirement as an accountant.
He met, dated and then married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Kohlman, on February 17, 1962. Dick and Judy were avid golfers and had made many friends through their golf leagues and tournaments. Golf was a life long passion for Dick, one which he learned from his father. He also enjoyed being with family, playing cards, fishing, and placing a good bet. Dad was a surprisingly good bowler for being a lefty.
Dick was very active in the community wherever they lived. It made him happy to organize events where large groups of people would gather, socialize, and have fun. Whether it was for leagues or neighborhoods like their beloved Mountain View Estates, Dick was committed to bringing joy to others. He was strong of faith and raised his family to share his beliefs.
Dick is survived by his wife Judy, Mesa AZ. Three siblings Jim, Mesa AZ; Sue (Al) Ewaldt, Marinette WI; and Bob (Eva), Pestigo WI. Three children Richard Charles (Jamie), Zumbrota MN; James Michael, Owatonna MN; and Julie Ann (Bruce), Lino Lakes MN. Five grandchildren Kristoffer Kiefer, Jamie Kiefer, Krystal (Mike) Phillips, Cody Michals, and Weldon Carrigan. Last month he was able to meet his first great grandchild Hunter Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Edna Kiefer.
Private services will be handled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dick's honor to your favorite charity.
