Perry was born on September 9, 1938 to Bob and June Triplett in Asotin, WA. He grew up in Asotin
and graduated as the valedictorian from Asotin High School in 1956. He then attended Washington
State College where he met and married Diane Solberg in 1959. Perry began his career as a purchasing
agent for the Moses Lake School District. He then returned to Pullman and worked for his alma matter
where he and Diane raised their three children. He retired from WSU as the Purchasing Manager in
1990. He and Diane then spent a decade of semi-retirement in Tacoma where he he put his love of golf
to work part time as the executive secretary of the Western Washington Golf Course Superintendents
Association.
In 2000 He and Diane decided to enjoy full retirement and they moved to Mesa, AZ to
soak up the sun and watch the grandkids grow up. His passing was preceded by Diane in 2013 but he
is survived by his sister Nancy, and his brothers Orrin and Terry. He is also survived by his three
children and their families. His son Kirk and his wife Cathi and their children Conor, Sam, Alexis, and
Kobe. His son Bryan and his wife Whitney and their children Taylor, Brandon, and Tommy. His
daughter Shelly and her children Lukas, and Chessa.
Perry had a lifelong love of sport and competition. As a young man he was a standout basketball and
baseball player and eventually introduced his family to the game of golf. The game became a
centerpiece of the Triplett family and provided a shared experience of success and defeat as only sport
can. Perry continued to play regularly until just before his passing. His children will never be able to
set foot on the course without remembering the example he set for them not just on the course but in
life. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a man dedicated to kindness
and good works for all. His loss will be mourned by those who remain, but others are rejoicing at the
prospect of being reunited with him once again. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be
made to the Washington Junior Golf Association, WJGA, 6314 19th Street W, Suite 14, Fircrest, WA
98466. Private services will be held at a later date. www.mariposagardens.com
