Former Janesville resident, Roger Myron Kersten, 80, died on Feb. 17, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on Dec. 2, 1931, the son of Reinhold and Freda [Nightengale] Kersten. He married Jean Maxine Meyer on March 17, 1951. Roger was a dedicated employee for General Motors Group for 33 years. He was a successful businessman owning Kersten’s Lawnmower Clinic and Kersten’s Christmas Trees for many years before retiring. Roger and Jean then retired to Arizona where he spent wonderful remaining years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean [Meyer]; four children, Jim (Marcia), Larry (Kathy), Steven (Elaine) and Connie; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, 4 bothers, (Russell, Roy, Clifford and Chester), and one sister (Myrtle) Hagen. At his request, no services will be held. Burial will be at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa, AZ. He was a husband, a father, and a grandfather. But to me he was the best. He will be missed Greatly. You were really Amazing!
