Roy Francis Jones

Roy F. Jones, 85 of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2022 at Sunrise Senior Living of Chandler. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona for both him and his beloved wife of 61 yrs., Nancy K. Jones.

Roy was born on March 7th, 1936, in Colver, Pennsylvania. He moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after college to begin his 35 year career as a math teacher at Carrick High School. After retiring, he went on to teach math at Hillcrest Christian Academy in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania for more than 15 years. Roy’s love for teaching and mentoring young people was his passion and evident to all who knew him. He left a legacy of love and care in the many students he coached and taught over his 50 year teaching career.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy K. Jones, his parents Roy and Hazel Jones, sister Carolyn Stoyka, brother Robert Jones, and nephew Ben Jones. Roy is survived by his sister Shirley Leathen, his daughter Susan (Jeff) Small of Chandler, AZ, his son David (Kimmie) Jones of Peters Township, PA; his grandchildren Matthew (Stephanie) Small, Amanda (Small) Ludlum (Joe), Stephen (Nanny) Small, Stephanie Jones and fiancé Mason Todd, Kirstie Jones, and Madeleine Jones; his great-grandchildren, Hannah Small, McKenna Small, Jackson Small, Clark Ludlum, Kent Ludlum, Palmer Small, and Jonah Small.

A memorial service will be held early summer in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Details to come.
