Selena Brower, known to her close family as "Sassy, died peacefully on June 29, 2012. She was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 29, 1914. She remained in Illinois until 1955 when, with her husband, she moved to Arizona. Selena was the head cook at Mesa High School for many years until her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Cordes Junction, Arizona and resided there until failing health brought her back to Mesa to be close to family.
Selena loved her family, her church and her many close friends. She was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her nieces and great nieces through the years. She was a wonderful cook and baker and many holiday tables were graced with her creations. Throughout her life, she was an example of humility, patience and courage. She left her family much to emulate.
Selena was preceded in death by her husband Delong "Bud", her parents Kamile and Leona DeKeyser and her sisters Clara Adams and Edith Watkins. Survivors include many great nieces and nephews and their children.
Private family services were held with the burial at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
