Sharon was a woman defined by love, compassion, and quiet strength. Entered into life on January 11, 1941, in Moline, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of Louis and Mary (Fleming) Bucko. From an early age, she demonstrated a caring spirit and a deep sense of responsibility for others; qualities that would shape both her life’s work and the way she loved her family.
On June 22, 1963, she married her beloved husband and high school sweetheart, Robert Eugene Wilt. Their marriage was a partnership rooted in devotion, mutual respect, and enduring love. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, music, and unwavering support for one another. Their life together was rich with shared experiences, including travel, family traditions, and countless memories that will be treasured by those who knew them.
Sharon was a proud mother to four children: Michael (Kathryn) Wilt, Robert (Jada) Wilt, Timothy Wilt, and Kellie (Byron) Ayle. She often said that being able to stay home with her children during their early years was the greatest gift of her life. She adored her children wholeheartedly and poured herself into nurturing, guiding, and loving them. Family was always her highest priority, and she took immense joy in holidays, birthdays, and gatherings where everyone could be together. Many of her fondest memories were made around the table, during celebrations, or simply enjoying time with those she loved most.
Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her family into her professional life. She graduated in 1961 from St. Mary Mercy School of Nursing in Gary, IN and went on to spend her career as an accomplished registered nurse. She worked for many years in the operating room at Banner Desert Hospital and Surgical Center, where she was known for her skill, professionalism, and calm presence. Nursing was more than a career for her; it was a calling. She took great pride in her work and considered being a nurse, alongside being a mother and a wife, to be among her proudest accomplishments.
In addition to her dedication to family and career, Sharon found joy in many simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved playing the piano, a talent that brought beauty and peace into her home. She cherished time spent with family and friends and delighted in watching her family grow through the generations. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a constant source of joy, pride, and laughter in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary (Fleming) Bucko; her siblings Dolores “Suzanne” Bucko and Michael Louis Bucko; and one beloved grandchild, whose memory she carried in her heart.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Eugene Wilt; her four children, Michael (Kathryn) Wilt, Robert (Jada) Wilt, Timothy Wilt, and Kellie (Byron) Ayle; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through them; in the values she taught, the love she gave so freely, and the example she set through a life of service and devotion.
Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle strength, her deep love for family, and her unwavering commitment to caring for others. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
