Wendy was born on October 27, 1953 at Mercy Hospital, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Joseph Weisenberger and Margaret Lorentz. Wendy and her brothers, Edward, Joseph "Pete," and Michael, spent their childhood learning to play cards and chew tobacco from their grandfather, Edward Weisenberger, and playing with scores of cousins who all grew up in and around Tiffin. After four years of coordinating the high school social scene, Wendy graduated from Columbian High School in Tiffin, Ohio in 1972. Wendy decided to devote her life to helping others and graduated from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Sandusky, Ohio in 1975. Upon graduation from nursing school, Wendy moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she worked at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. Wendy eventually returned to Tiffin where she gave birth to a son, Matthew, in 1979 and a daughter, Bethany, in 1982. Wendy continued her call to others at various hospitals in Northwest Ohio, and she later discovered a love for teaching a new generation of nurses and healers, which continued throughout her career. After several years of raising her children among dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, a few Great Danes, and block parties with friends and neighbors on Tecumseh Trail, Wendy moved to Gilbert, AZ in 1989. Wendy and her friends brought lightheartedness to the Intensive Care Unit at Mesa General Hospital for many years. She spent the last decade of her nursing career at the Electrophysiology Lab at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, AZ, where she continued teaching all her fellow nurses, new and old, the tricks of the trade such as how to neatly organize a lab, properly wind up tubing, and how to turn a lead apron into Miss E.P.'s sash. Wendy met Ronald Kent in 1998, fell in love with him and the Rocky Mountains, and, slightly in advance of her self-proclaimed "15-year marriage plan," the two wed on April 15, 2011. When cancer and the toll of treatment took Wendy away from the profession she loved, she continued helping others by donating the crotchet skills she learned as a little girl from her grandmother, Evelyn Weisenberger, to make prayer shawls for charity and enough blankets and scarves to keep her family warm for years to come. Never one to throw a pity party for herself, Wendy stayed positive throughout her illness and saw to it that everyone around her did the same. She loved the calm and serenity of the mountains and ocean, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Arizona Diamondbacks with her son and cat (Maizie), and slumber parties with her daughter. Although positivity and determination took Wendy far in her treatment, she eventually joined her father, Joseph Weisenberger, and her brother, Joseph "Pete" Weisenberger, on September 5, 2014 while surrounded by the husband and children she loved. Wendy is survived by her husband, Ronald Kent of Gold Canyon, AZ, children, Matthew Klopp (Nicole) of Phoenix, AZ and Bethany Klopp (Andy Cook) Berkhamsted, England, step-children, Jennifer Collver (Chad) Colorado Springs, CO and Chandie Kent of Colorado Springs, CO, mother, Margaret Weisenberger of Tiffin, OH, brothers, Edward Weisenberger of Columbus, OH and Michael Weisenberger (Debra) of Tiffin, OH, and more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends than can be listed here. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13th, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care, 6747 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa, AZ. To celebrate Wendy's life and love of nursing and family, make a donation to a nursing scholarship or hospice facility of your choice or a phone call to a loved one.
