

William D. Lineback was born on April 4, 1928, in Winston-Salem, N.C. To Garney Elmer and Della Catherine (Tuttle) Lineback. William graduated from John W. Hanes High School in winston-Salem in 1946. Later that year he entered the United States Army Basic Training at fort Dix, NJ and served in Hachinohe, Japan with the 11th Airborne Division and was a member of the 511 Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged in February, 1948. He then entered North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1952.
In 1949 he married Linda Gertrude Hayes at Fairview Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. His wife preceded him in death July 6,1998 in Casper, WY.
His employment career began in June, 1952 as Maintenance Engineer for Fiber Container Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC. In 1953, he was Project Engineer for Western Electric Company in Winston-Salem. From 1956 to 1981, he worked for C.P. Clare Company in Asheville, NC in Engineering Management in Rapid City, SD as Plant Manager; again in Asheville, NC as Manufacturing Manager; then in Nogales, AZ as Consultant; in Guadalajara, Mexico as Manufacturing Manager and Plant Manager; and then in Chicago, IL as Director of Quality Control.
In 1981 to 1994, he worked for Siemens Corporation in Spartanburg, SC as Engineering Manager. Later was Plant Manager in Portland, Oregon. He retired from Siemens Corporation in 1994. He and his wife, Linda, moved to Casper from Vancouver, WA in 1995 to be closer to their children.
In June, 2000, he married Carol Guthrie (Leffler.) They made their home in Casper, Spending winters in Mesa, AZ.
He enjoyed his membership in Rotary Club, Casper Country Club, and First United Methodist Church in Casper and Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Arizona. His favorite activities were golfing, reading, investments, and music. He sang in a quartet since high school and played an alto horn from the age of six. Growing up in the Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, he played in he church band, under the direction of his father. He sang in a Barbershop quartet until 2000 and in a Barbershop chorus until 2002. He also enjoyed singing with the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church Choir. Bill enjoyed serving in the retirement community where he and his wife resided during the winter y serving as President of the Sunland Springs Village Condo Homeowners' Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Casper, WY; daughter Janice Lynne Gerlach (husband, Mel) of Mesa, AZ; Susan Leigh Pinckney of Eaton, CO and granddaughter, Stephanie Gerlach Norby (husband, Roy) of Bothell, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; son- in- law, Randal Pinckney and brother, Webster E. Lineback and sisters, Marge Kane and Kate Noble.
