

The viewing will be held on 02/26/2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the rosary to be held between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home in Mesquite, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday 02/27/2026 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church with Father Andy, officiating. Burial will follow at The DFW National Cemetery the following week on Thursday 03/05/2026 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are by Clayton-Anderson-Gonzalez Funeral Home.
Arturo “Curly” Ramirez was born in San Antonio to Victoriano Ramirez and Anita Perales on 07/14/1940. He went to school at Crozier Tech in Dallas, Texas. He married Ester Sosa on September 19, 1956, in Dallas, Texas. He worked as a Bonds Supervisor and Facilities Manager for the Richardson Independent School District for 20 years. He was a veteran of and served in the United States Air Force. Both he and his wife were involved deeply in the Catholic faith at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church where he served as an usher for over 20 years and was a strong supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Dallas Scottish Rite for Children and The Epilepsy Foundation.
Arturo is preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend Ester Ramirez, his father Victoriano Ramirez, his mother Anita Perales, and his sister Guadalupe Olivares.
Arturo is survived by his brother Ramon Ramirez and wife Marie Ramirez, son Patrick H. Portillo and wife Susan Portillo, daughters Anita C. Ramirez, Cynthia A. Ramirez and spouse Jo Hamsher, Julia G. Parra and spouse Henry Parra, grandchildren Victor A. Ramirez, Genevieve Goulding, Nicholas A. Mestas, Alexandra L. Henry, Mercedes M. Ramirez and spouse Eva Bergner, Sara D. Seat and husband Jason Seat, Arturo H. Parra and wife Karina Parra, Sarah Hamsher, great grandchildren Tyler A. Mestas, Zeke Spears, Jacob Mixson, Chloe Spears, Cody Parra, Harley Parra, Max Seat, Ryleigh Seat, Nolan Parra and Eugene Goulding. Both Arturo and Ester were Godparents to many and opened their hearts and door to any children and young adults that needed structure, sometimes a father figure, and a place to call home.
Pallbearers will be Victor Ramirez, Nicholas Mestas, Arturo Parra, Tyler Mestas, Jason Seat and Cody Parra.
In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or The American Heart Association. The family of Arturo wishes to extend our sincere thanks to The Parkland ICU doctors and nursing staff with a special thanks to Dr. Serpa.
