Passed away on July 20, 2016. She was born on December, 21, 1918 to William and Clara Schlobohm in Humble, Texas. Elvira was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Forney. After many years of making a home for her family she volunteered and kept busy with her beloved family and friends. Her greatest joy was to be with family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Abernathy, Don Abernathy, and Ken Abernathy and wife Linda; 7 grandchildren; numerous, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She is preceded by her husband of 36 years, Ray Clarence Abernathy; daughters, Geneva Sue Culpepper, and Dolores Kay Blackmore; and 2 grandchildren. Visitation for Elvira will be on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 3-5 pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 2 pm at the 1st Baptist Church in Forney. Final Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Schlobohm Cemetery, 13500 John F. Kennedy Drive, Houston, Texas at 3 pm.
