Melba Gay Usrey

Melba was born in Winnsboro, TX on August 7, 1928 to parents, Virgil and Irene Reid Cater. She married G. B. Usrey on December 4, 1944. Her passions included her family and church. Melba will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Irene Cater, her brother, Jim Bob Cater, her husband, G. B. Usrey, her son, Tommy Usrey, grandson, Tony Usrey, and great-granddaughter, Hailey Edgar.

She is survived by her sister, Virgie Dale Howard of Winnsboro, TX; Son, Terry Usrey and wife, Katanna of San Antonio, TX; son, Ricky Usrey and wife, Nancy of Rowlett, TX and daughter, Frances Gay Wilburn and husband, Mike of Josephine, TX. Survivors also include daughter-in-law Cindy Ethridge of Dallas, TX, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 beginning at 12:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 2214 Franklin Dr, Mesquite, Texas 75150, (972) 285-4832. Funeral service to follow at 12:30 PM with Pastor John Livaudais officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1000 US-175, Seagoville, TX 75159, (972) 287-2121.
