

Mitchell Berle Sandlin, 65, of Mesquite, TX passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Dallas Regional Hospital in Mesquite. He was born in Tupelo, MS to the late Ezekiel Sandlin and Mabel McKnight Sandlin. Mitchell was raised in Fulton, MS where he was a member of the Fulton Methodist church. He graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1967, and the claims law program of the American Educational Institute in 1989 as became certified as a Senior law claims associate. Mitchell married his high school sweetheart Leevay Adams in 1969 and Mitchell’s job relocated them to Fulton, Greenville, and Oxford, MS before settling in Mesquite, TX. He began a lifelong career in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster in Tupelo, MS with the Northeast Mississippi appraisal service, followed by work with the Crawford Insurance company in Greenville, MS. During his 27 years with the Hartford Insurance as an Executive general adjuster in North Mississippi and in Texas. This was followed by work with Team One claim services, Unified Investigations and Sciences Inc, and finally York risk services Inc. Mitchell had a great interest in politics and world affairs. He served in the Marine Corps and was a true patriot. Mitchell was a lifelong sports enthusiast, especially baseball and Football. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, Ole Miss rebels, and the New York Giants. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of Cedar Creek Country club in Mabank, TX. He was an avid reader and a fan of Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour novels among others. Mitchell adored his dogs greatly especially Miss Muffin. He will be remembered best as a great husband, father, and brother. His was a true and loyal friend to many, and was widely known for his honesty, dedication, and his ability to entertain all with his lively and amusing stories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mitchell is preceded in death by his twin brother Michael Earl Sandlin; paternal grandparents Joseph E. and Mary Thorn Sandlin; Maternal grandparents William Oscar and Sara Ophelia Bradberry McKnight. He is survived by his beloved wife Leevay Adams Sandlin; daughter Anna Sandlin Diamond and husband Michael Diamond; son Mitchell Brian Sandlin; sister Julia Sandlin Chenault and husband Walter M. Chenault; brother Jerry Sandlin; as well as his numerous loving nieces, nephews, and other friends.
