Norwin Rachel Darthard

Norwin was the fourth child born to the union of the late Albert Leon Darthard and Delois Williams Darthard on March 24, 1953, in Marshall, Texas. He was called to his eternal rest on September 2, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.

Norwin attended school in Dallas, TX; Pearl Anderson Elementary as a child and then Lincoln High School in his teenage years, where he was well known for his amazing speed in track.

After working at TI, Norwin decided he would try trucking. This became his passion. He loved the freedom, traveling all over the U.S. and getting to see the sites in the cities, meeting people and making friends, which he did so easily. He often took his wife along for company.

Norwin accepted Christ at an early age. He became a devoted member of Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas, where he participated in the church services and enjoyed the services on CD and streaming.

Norwin loved his grandchildren. Watching the grandchildren play sports, he wanted to go to all the games but was on the road most of the time and couldn’t. He loved people. He rarely met a stranger and became friends with most of the people he met. He never turned away a person that asked for his advice, especially truckers.

Norwin loved to party, play dominos, drink, shoot pool, eat steak, take cruises and watch sports. Sitting down to play dominos was the best, as he always said he would be the winner, and usually was. He had his troubles, like we all do. But he was so much more than many people knew. He tried to be whatever you needed to whoever needed it. if they just gave him a chance.

Norwin was preceded in death by his sister Christine Darthard, father Albert Leon Darthard, mother Delois Williams Darthard, brother David Darthard and brother Vernon Darthard.

Norwin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years -Debra Williams-Darthard, two daughters, Staci Darthard and Rolanda Williams-Freeney (Eric), four sons’ Dayleon Darthard, Brian Darthard, Gabriel Williams and Daniel Jefferson, two brothers James Williams and Stony Darthard, nine grandchildren Dayleon Darthard, II, Donavan Darthard, Deleah Darthard, Breunna Johnson, Parker McCoy, Paetyn McCoy, Christianne Thornton, Karter Brooks, Ambrielle Shantel Jefferson and a host of other relatives and friends.
