Richard Thomas Bullock

Richard Thomas Bullock, age 86, passed away on July 24, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. Richard was born in New York, New York to Evalyn and Edward Blake. Richard was raised until a young age in New York by his grandmother Gracie and Aunt Edith and served as a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force. He married Melva Clark Smith on December 31, 1989 and worked in sales for the duration of his life, he retired from Leggett & Platt, Inc. on January 27, 2008.

In his spare time you could find Richard on a softball field, playing the game he loved the most, if he wasn't playing softball, he was watching baseball on TV, he also loved gambling and his Wednesday night poker night. Richard loved to "cut a rug", his slick dance moves is what won over Melva years ago. He loved to travel near and far but most of all spending time with family and friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a one of a kind person who never met a stranger.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Bullock and Jimmy Bullock; his grandparents and grandson, Blake Thomas McCraw. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Melva Clark Smith; children, Tonya Shanz, Chad Smith and wife, Kristi and Tom Womack and wife, Liz; grandchildren, Morgan Shanz and fiance, Cody Redd, Madison Owens and husband, Donovan, Harper Smith, Hayes Smith, Sam Womack and wife, Tiffany and Jennifer Davis; great-grandchildren, Skylar McCraw, Daxton Owens, Kane McCraw, Katherine Redd, Avery Redd, Blakelyn Owens, Johnathan Womack, Charlotte Womack, Josephine Womack and Rose Davis.

A celebration of life for Richard will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
