Honestly, I don't remember the first time I met you but I remember how much I loved you and Jude bantering back and forth to see who could get under each other's skin the most. You guys always had me laughing and I will forever hear your deep Louisiana accent in my head. The times I came to visit Charity and Jude it was always the question of 'How's David?' usually followed by, 'Is he coming over?' It was always so good to see you and get those big, intentional hugs you always gave. I can't imagine those things not happening again. I can't imagine you not in the midst of every cookout and crawfish boil. I can't imagine you never in Jude and Charity's kitchen just chatting with us and us laughing hysterically. My hope is that you are in a better place, my friend. My hope is that you're happy. I feel so fortunate that my best friend and your best friend found one another and because of that relationship I got to know you, if only a little. We will miss you so much. Thank you for all you gave each of us in this life and for sharing that. That little meant a lot. Until we meet again.

David you are going to be sorely missed by our family.  I cannot remember a time that you were not spoken about or included in our family gatherings over the years.  There is a hole that will be left in my brother Jude's life that no one else can fill...rest peacefully and know that you are thought of and remembered fondly and will be missed, until we meet again...

David was our uncle Jude's best friend and our adopted uncle. My brother and I grew up knowing David as our uncle David. He was our family. He was such a nice guy with a big heart and will truly be missed by us all. I am happy to have been able to have the chance to know him. We send our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

I met David when we both worked at Aetna and you will not meet a bigger hearted person. He always had a way to make me laugh and see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.  If you knew David you know that he was rough on the edges, but all Teddy Bear inside.  I feel so blessed that he let me into his world and I will always have all the special memories we shared together. Rest in peace you will be missed.

David was a close friend to myself and my family for the last 20 years.  He was always someone you could count on when in need.  He would drop everything and be there when a friend needed help.  He offered up a lot of himself and never expected anything in return.  He was like a big brother to me.  We shared many outdoor adventures together and those trips will not be the same without him. I'll always cherish those memories and until we meet up again, his memory will always be with me.

David was a friend from school. Always very sweet to everyone. My prayers are with you all.

Wow!  What a great guy!  There's not many things that I can or rather choose to recall about high school, but I do remember David. I don't believe I've seen David since high school but I would bet money that he hadn't changed very much. Steady, stable, even, steadfast and loyal describe the David I knew.  Men of this character are unlikely to vary. I consider myself blessed to have known him.

I will miss my best friend.  I shall forever cherish the years spent alongside a man who held every ounce of my trust.  David was a faithful, reliable, dedicated and virtuous man.  His strength has helped me through hard times.  His humor brought levity to my doldrums.  I look forward to the day when I will again be with him.  Until then I will cherish the fond memories of our many good times and be forever thankful for his friendship.

David was an extension of my husband, Jude. He was Jude's right arm and brother his whole life. The two of them came as a packaged deal and I was fortunate enough to have always been loved by both of them. Although some people may have found David harsh and rough around the edges, he always made me feel loved and important. He never spoke to me without calling me sweetie and giving me the most fully invested hugs I'd ever had from a friend. He always made a point to make sure I was safe and taken care of whenever given the  opportunity to check on me. I will forever miss those opportunities. Knowing he was there if I needed him gave me an extra sense of comfort if anything went wrong. I will miss the exchanges between him and my husband that left us crying laughing. I will miss his rude, brash comments that he made just to make light of bad situations. He is a one of a kind and will forever be in my thoughts. I love you! Rest peacefully!

I first met this beautiful soul at the tender age of 15. We were virtually inseparable from that moment until Tuesday morning when he departed this plane of existence. A. David Jackson Jr. was sometimes a difficult person to love, but well worth the investment. He always stood behind me. He always helped me correct my mistakes, even horrendous ones that were not easily undone. I always tried to do the same for him. I always introduced him to those I loved and he always wanted to love them as well. They all in turn would go on to love David. He was a brother to me in this life. I did not want to imagine not being able to pick up the phone or show up at his house to entertain him with my latest dumb idea. Though many never came to pass, he always listened and tried to play along. I want to believe he was happy now and passed away with no regrets. If you were his friend, there was not much he would not do with or for you. He loved to make jokes at my expense. (one's I clearly deserved) He had a hardy laugh that once induced made it dizzyingly difficult for him to catch his breath while his laughter infectiously spread throughout the room. He had as equally inappropriate a sense of humor as I possessed, it seemed to make the tough parts of life easier to make it through. He could be dead serious once on task be that hunting and fishing to major home rehab projects. I learned to drive a nail with a hammer from David, use a saw and walk away with all my fingers when I was finished. Skills his father had carefully passed to him. We helped each other build and rehabilitate many homes and machines together. Mostly each others but honestly mostly ones I owned. I know he was always there to help many others do the same. If you called him, he would come. He rarely called for others, but I would have crossed the country for him. He did so at least once for me. He stood there for me through marriages and divorce more times than I care to admit. He was always my rock, but I wish to believe that he knew I was for once in good hands with a blessing of a wife, my family and wonderful in-laws. If he had become tired in this world, perhaps he knew I and all the others he loved would be safe in his absence. Nary a week into his absence I am just paralyzed by sadness. I know he knew I loved him dearly. I never missed an opportunity to hug him and tell him. Now just as one of us was destined to grieve the other, I shall begin this next journey and try to remember that it's my own selfishness that causes this pain in my heart. A. David Jackson Jr., It was my life's highest honor and privilege and blessing to be your best friend. I hope I was to you nearly all you were to me though hindsight is making it difficult to imagine that being possible. I love you my brother. Underneath the image you tried to put forward you were a kind, gentle, generous, helpful, fully engaged part of my life. A man's man. A true friend. You made my life a better place to be.
