Angelina Palmisano Mendoza

Angelina Palmisano Mendoza, age 89, entered into rest on Friday, August 25, 2017. Mrs. Mendoza was born on September 3, 1927 in Harahan, LA and she has been a resident of Metairie, LA since 1936. Beloved wife of 52 years to the late August W. Mendoza, Jr. Mother of the late Joyce Marie Mendoza. Sister of Fred J. Palmisano, Jr. and the late Joyce Marie Palmisano. Daughter of the late Fred J. Palmisano, Sr. and Rosalie Maggiore Palmisano. Mrs. Mendoza was very active in the community. She was a member of AARP Chapter 897 where she served as refreshment chairperson; the Jefferson Parish Golden Agers where she served as refreshment chairperson and as an “angel” assisting members that were older or disabled during meetings and socials; the St. Theresa Society, helping with socials and fund raisers to support the Mission of St. Theresa; Les Femmes Bowling League where she served as secretary/treasurer; the Charity Crib Guild which was an organization that supported the maternity ward and nursery of Charity Hospital in New Orleans, holding monthly meetings, socials and raffles with all proceeds going to the infants at the hospital until it was damaged in 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina and she also served on the St. Agnes Church Altar Society and worked with the St. Agnes Church semi-annual bingo to benefit St. Agnes Church and school. Graveside services and interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in New Orleans, LA on Friday morning, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
