Barbara Ann Dendinger

Barbara “Nan” Newhouse Dendinger was born on September 17, 1945 to the late Marion Newhouse and Elmer Newhouse Sr. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She was a very kind and giving person, however, don’t mess with her family. She was also a hard worker and worked at several jobs throughout her career. However, the two jobs she loved the most were her sister’s family cleaners and the catholic school system, where she managed the cafeteria. She loved working with the kids as they brought her joy. Her hobbies included playing card games, watching cowboy movies, traveling, visiting the casino, sometimes cooking, watching the Saints football team, and spending time with the family, especially her sister and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved daughter, Mary Augustine and her loving and devoted sister, Marion Newhouse Coll. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces, as well as a ton of friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Dendinger, daughter, Jonne Dendinger, father, Elmer Newhouse Sr., mother, Marion Newhouse, her grandmothers, Rose Mayfarth and Sadie Newhouse, and two brothers, Elmer Newhouse Jr. and John Newhouse.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 9AM – 11AM with a funeral service to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery.
