

Barbara Whichard Osborne rapidly progressed to a stage of Dementia that was hard for those who loved her to witness. At the age of 93, she died peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Ponchatoula, LA. Barbara was born on September 9, 1931, in Meridian, MS. She was the daughter of the late Forrest Joseph Whichard, Sr. of Slidell, LA and the late Edna Smith Whichard of Meridian, MS. Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Richard Tatterson Osborne, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, her brother Forrest Joseph Whichard, Jr., and her lifelong friends Eloise Adams and Vernon Furlow. She is the beloved sister of Dorothy Whichard Gagliardi in St. Paul, MN. Barbara is also survived by her two daughters Sharon Osborne Black (Michael) and Lisa Osborne Bertucci (Ronnie), Six grandchildren Brandon Alford, Lindsay Whitley (Ian), Zachary Parker (Angela), Alex Bertucci, Sara Bertucci and Sean Black. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren Luca Parker, Elias Parker, Aurora Parker, Nicole Whitley, Denman Whitley and Adalyn Whitley. Barbara also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and her beloved grand dog Jake. Barbara worked as a loan officer for several mortgage companies including Citywide Mortgage and Gulf States Mortgage. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kenner for over 50 years. Barbara enjoyed bowling and loved playing cribbage and canasta. For those who played with her felt very fortunate when she let them win. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach. Barbara also leaves behind several close friends, Nina Loup, Lynn Johnson, Shirley White, Howard Poinbuff and her sister-in-law Anne Osborne Shoe.
