

Carol Shamp Cook, age 78, went on to her future life to be with her late loving husband on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Mrs. Cook was born in New Orleans, LA on December 29, 1935. Beloved wife of the late Richard W. Cook, Sr. Daughter of the late Otis J. Shamp, Sr. and Rita Mary Lally Shamp. Sister of Dorris S. Hammond, Gail S. Saenz, Joseph H. Shamp, Raymond E. Shamp and the late Joyce S. Dyer, Otis J. Shamp, Jr., Gerald A. Shamp and James “Tony” M. Shamp. Mother of Wayne Catalano (Kerry), Gary Catalano, Sr. (Gwyn) and Richard W. Cook, Jr. (Stacy). Stepmother of Sharon Schillace and Robert Cook. Grandmother of Chad and Cole Catalano, Cory, Gary Jr. and Troy Catalano and Cody and Kaitlyn Cook. Great grandmother of Joseph, Giovanni and Madelynn Catalano. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cook was the former owner of Whitey’s Pool Hall in Metairie, LA. She had attended Redemptorist High School, was a former officer in Rhea and Aquila Carnival Organizations and was the Inaugural Queen in the Krewe of Saturn. Mrs. Cook enjoyed her family and visits to the casinos. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., in Metairie, LA on Wednesday evening, July 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Thursday, July 24, 2014 beginning at 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
