So sorry to hear about Cecil. It has been a long time, but we remember him fondly. He always had a smile and a joke to tell. Our condolences to Barbara, John & Mary and all of the family.

"Beetle Bailey" as we called him at work, was always ready with  a joke, or long story, and a smile. It was a real pleasure working with him, as he always found humor in any serious situation.

It was such a pleasure to know Cecil.  He never had an angry expression or frown on his face. Working with him at Republic/Northwest Airlines was always fun.   He will be missed. Wanda Ward

It was 1970 when Uncle Cecil flew in from Mississippi to visit my grandmother Glennie in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His assignment was to renovate grandma’s pantry. I would come home from school and he would be happy mastering away. In the afternoons he would have his coffee and Grandpa Fred would have his tea and they would shoot the breeze. Then the day came and Uncle Cecil’s job was done. It was a sad day for me because he was going home, but for a twelve year old girl, I wanted to make that day special. I made him a Rice Crispi’s Ice Cream pie. In my mind, I was so sure that being an airline employee nothing was going to stand in his way to take that pie to Mississippi. I really believed he had this magical power to make that happen. But of course, the pie would melt before it even reached Logan International Airport. Somehow, he knew I wanted this to be not so, so instead he said this would melt, but Uncle Cecil had that one piece of pie and he knew he made this young girl very happy. So know we imagine many years later Uncle Cecil is dressed in his finest Airline Suit flying from California, to Denver, to Houston, to Natchez to Shreveport, to La Place, to Panama City Beach, to Boston, to Halifax, and  now to its Heavenly Gates where he is peacefully joined with his mom and dad, my grandparents, my great aunts, Pauline, Hilda, Eva, Lena all conversing out on the front porch under the glorious sunshine and rainbow sky. I will miss you Uncle Cecil, for your jokes, your Southern wit and charm and your laugh and of course how you would tease me about how we all talk up here in the North- “ paaark the caaar”.

So so sorry to lose our good friend.  We went back a long way. In fact, he was my first boyfriend (in third grade).  Cecil was always so caring of everyone.  We missed you all at the last reunion - wasn't the same without him.  He will continue to be missed.  Our prayers are with you.

I loved Cecil like he was my own Daddy. He was the long arm of Merle to keep me straight while I was in PC. I have so many fond memories of all of us together and y'all made me feel like a part of the family. I love all of you. I wish I could be there, but know that I am thinking of you.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Cecil.  He will be deeply missed.  His memory will live in the hearts of all that new him.  I personally will miss his smile, laugh and his jokes.
