

Charles Jacob Koehl, Jr “Bud”, age 57, passed away at his family home on April 14, 2016, with his children and his loving friend by his side, following a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Roth Koehl, and his father, Charles J. Koehl, Sr. He is survived by his son Jesse Jacob Koehl (Katie Escher), Rachel Koehl Miles (“JP” Jean Paul), granddaughter Madison Miles, and the triplets which Rachel and JP are expecting later this year. Buddy is also survived by sisters Debbie Mahl (Bobby), Charlotte Joffary, and Beth Lala; beloved niece and Goddaughter, Gina Bloodsworth (Charlie), niece Kathlynn Caluda (Joe); nephews Brandon Mahl (Carolyn) and Kyle Joffary; great nephews Gavin, Cord, Sebastian, Nicholas, Alexander, Matthew, and Samuel; great nieces Jillian and Brin; his long-time loving friend Debbie Schmidt; and countless other family members and friends. He was employed by LP&L/Entergy for the past 29 years. “Do it right” was his mantra. He was a member of the National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas for many years. He was very proud to have recently won a Grand Champion Belt Buckle at the National Trials in Denham Springs. Buddy was also passionate about growing and cross-pollinating amaryllises, creating new varieties of the flower. Many people across south Louisiana know him as the Box Turtle Man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Kenner followed by visitation at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.
